Why H.264 and not 4K / AV1?
Premiere often can't decode AV1 or VP9 — you get "unsupported format" errors. videoMatik deliberately prefers H.264, which always plays; on YouTube that caps out at 1080p. A clip that opens beats a clip that doesn't.
Is it safe?
The macOS build is signed and notarized by Apple. Windows may show SmartScreen once — More info → Run anyway. Everything runs locally on your machine; the helper only listens on localhost.
Which sites work?
Anything yt-dlp supports — which is most of the internet. Private or age-gated videos can't be downloaded.
