the trick
Reference in. Look out.
Pick a reference. Pick a target. colourMatik computes a 65³ LUT locally and applies it as a native effect — the Intensity dial here works exactly like the one in the plugin.
inside the panel
Set a reference. Match. Grade.
Open the colourMatik panel in Premiere Pro or After Effects. Point it at a reference — the clip whose look you want — and a target — the shot that needs it. From there it's two controls, and your target is graded on the timeline. Here is exactly what each one does.
- Match & apply
- The one button that does the work. colourMatik reads the reference, computes a full 65³ 3-D LUT with on-device AI, and drops it onto your target as a native effect — no render, no export, no round-trip to another app. The graded shot is live on your timeline in seconds.
- Intensity
- The one dial you'll actually keep touching. 0% leaves the shot untouched, 100% is the full match, and you can push beyond it to drive the look harder. It's a live effect parameter — scrub it, keyframe it, change your mind any time. Nothing is baked in until you export.
- Accurate + Cinematic
- On every match the engine builds two grades — a measured, ΔE00-scored accurate transfer that hits the reference's numbers, and a learned cinematic one that goes for the feel — then automatically keeps whichever scores better. You get the stronger result without having to choose.
- Native effect
- The output is a real Premiere / After Effects effect living in your Effect Controls — non-destructive, keyframeable, and saved with the project. Built-in anti-banding dither keeps skies and soft gradients clean, with none of the stepping a baked LUT can leave behind.
- 100% local
- The AI runs entirely on your machine. Your frames never leave it — no cloud, no account, no telemetry, no sign-in. The macOS build is signed & notarized by Apple, so it opens with no security warnings.
